I Luv Delegazhan

Um.. or is that delegation… As I said yesterday, I was “in charge” of last night’s Kara run.  Whoopie!  Of course, you always have to deal with the “why wasn’t I chosen to go, etc” since we have so many that sign up now.  Unfortunately, it’s a 10 man instance and thus we can only bring 10 uh.. man..

So, I put together a group I felt would gear some stuff up but also make it an enjoyable experience for everyone (read “not too many wipes”). This group consisted of:

  • Tanks: Warrior (“veteran”), Druid (druid was somewhat “new”)
  • Healers: Druid (“veteran”), Priest (gearing up)
  • DPS: 6!  2 Hunters, 2 Mages, 1 Rogue, 1 Boomkin (me)

WoWScrnShot_080608_225707 The group worked pretty well over all.  We had a few issues (like pulling to soon, pulling too many, etc..) but in general we did well.  We one shot all the bosses we tried: Attumen, Moroes, Opera (Big Bad Wolfenstein), Curator, Shade.  Yeah.. We got all the way to shade.. We started at about 6pm and ended a little after 9.. 3 hours to shade (yes, skipped Maiden until tonight). I think that is pretty good for a “gearing up” group.

We had quite a few “fun” moments.  Like when we pulled a few extra dancers by accident.. Or when there were 2 big robot dudes and a bunch of fishies on the way to the shade… I did get off a “Druid DI” though before I died..

OwlTail_080608_225626 What is a “Druid DI” you ask?  Well… I liken this to Divine Intervention, a Pally spell, because it performs the same task.. Keep from having to run back.. How do you do this feat of hybridness? Well, hopefully you have your battle rez up.. cuz u will need it.  You just battle rez a “full” rezzer (well, at least until WotLK that doesn’t include another druid) that has died and let them know NOT TO TAKE IT YET! Once everyone wipes, they can hit accept and pop up and rez everyone! BEAUTY!

Anyway, so we also had a little hiccup when starting the Curator. Our MT was explaining to the OT where he was going to tank (since the MT was going to be the soaker) and was up there a little too long… Guess what! He pulled the boss.. WHOA! “IT’S OK! GET INTO POSITIONS. LETS DO THIS THING”.. Yeah.. LOL.. We still killed him dead.

Perch_080608_230215 For the Shade, we did our normal routine which is assign classes with interrupts to interrupt his ice and fire spells.  We leave the arcane alone.  Especially this time, we had enough DPS to burn him down until the elementals popped way before he drank.  The key is to be cognizant of what is going on and have someone call out when the “special” spells are being started. We also always run “together” back to the door on the arcane blast thingy he does. That allows the healers to be in range to heal people if they get hit or such (and be in rezzing distance if it is a wipe).

Anyway, the “newer” mage got a ton of drops from the first day which is pretty awesome as I think he might have been the least geared of all of them.  I have to remember who is here this week so I can try to switch it up next week. Tonight is night 2 and I hope we do as well.  We’ll be starting with a jaunt up to Chess and then the Prince. After that we will probably do Netherspite, skip Illhoof (party makeup doesn’t lend itself to that fight) and head back to the Maiden and if we have time, Nightbane.

If A Tree Falls

Posted by Fimlys on August 6th, 2008

If a tree falls in the forest… Who will Rez it?

Ok. bad jokes over… For now…

Last night we were scheduled to do a Gruul’s run, but we were missing some key players. So, we jettisoned the raid and it was “every being for itself”.  There was a general call for a DPS for a Botanica run and I volunteered.  Group consisted of Pally Tank, Stopit’s Mage, Feral Drood, Boomkin (me) and a certain Trey in da Weend. We had some issues getting INTO the instance to begin with since we wanted to do it in Heroic (and it was set thusly) but one of our number did not have the key.. I ended up having to log out and in about 10 times before it worked right.

Otherwise, the run went somewhat un-eventful overall. We one shot all the bosses and other than there being more deaths than usual (many because I pulled some group we were skipping about 3-5 times…) it was a good time. The feral druid picked up a plethora of new items (including the staff from Warp Splinter)..

WoWScrnShot_080508_235911 After the run, I found some peeps to make Fyra some gems and spellcloth and with one more slot left to fill, I have now hit 999 Spell Damage and maxed out Spell Hit unbuffed. Of course, much of this gear will get replaced as I pick up more badges.  Unfortunately the best gear for a moonkin (at least at my level of raiding) is either Badges or Arena.  I might pick up the offhand from arena points (need one more week of matches) or maybe even the gloves (although the ones I have right now are the only T4 piece I have.. )..

Anyway.. Tonight I’m running the Kara raid. I’m trying the “stack the DPS” method and only running 2 tanks/2 healers.  We’ll have to see how it works.  I’m definitely seeing very few people leveling/playing warlocks in the guild.  Ah well.. ;) I’ll catch you tomorrow.

Stuck In Arena With You

Posted by Fimlys on August 5th, 2008

Had an interesting experience trying to PvP last night. I was invited to join some guildies in a 5v5 arena team last night and finally we went in.  It seemed to be very laggy getting into the arena itself though.  We lost the first match and when we all died, we stood up and sat there for a while not leaving the arena. After a minute or so we were let out. We joined again and won the next match.  Same thing happened.. Except… It didn’t let us out.  We stood there for 15 minutes or more and no luck.  Finally we alt-f4’ed out and logged into a different toon.  One of the guys logged a ticket and the GM was able to remove them from the arena but didn’t offer an explanation (I think).

WoWScrnShot_080408_225807 We gave up on the arena idea for now since we didn’t want that to happen again and I went back onto Freez to get some more leveling done.  I was about 6k from getting to 55 and Pil and Kezz logged in and we proceeded to the Burning Steppes. Got most of the quests done there (other than the dungeon and raid ones) and I even got my lockpicking maxed for lvl 55 by opening 2 of the locked doors in BRD while we were over there killing Pyron. I ended up getting really close to level 56 in the end (about 20k I think) but it was really late and I had to log.

Tonight is Gruul’s (in guild) if we have enough ppl to go.  I guess today was a short post again.. :) Well, there really wasn’t much to tell. OH! WAIT! Episode 11 of the Twisted Nether Blogcast is up and running! Go check it out and let us know what you think!
