We were kinda burned out last night. Lately, I’ve been running instances with two other guildies as our standard group (the 3 of us and 2 others ). Last night we were kinda tired and wanted something a little less challenging, taking a little less time.

When one of our fellow Mythosians alts needed to do Furnace and Ramparts, we jumped at the chance.. So, we went and smushed these instances in about an Hour each (I think). We had 3 70′s and 2 <70 (don’t remember the levels).. 2 Hunters (1 70 and 1 other), 1 Shadow priest (< 70), Warrior (70), and Resto Druid (70).

Very quick run through the two instances.. I had never done the quests for one of these (I don’t remember which, maybe Ramparts) and discovered this AFTER we were almost finished

I did finish a couple of quests and now I know why I have so little rep with Honor Hold. I need to try to get through this again to finish the quests and then run Shattered Halls a few times to get up to revered. I really want to get some Heroic keys so I can get into a group to try these out. Supposedly the lootz is phat. (whatever that means..)

I may be taking it easy the next couple of days, maybe I’ll spend some time screwing around with my PS3. I know we’re supposed to go to Kara Friday and Saturday, but I may not be included (we have a lot of ppl attuned now and hunters aren’t as useful as other classes in raids).

Anyone have any ideas on if I should try respeccing Survival? Is it worth it? My DPS is pretty nice specced MM with a bit of BM (for pet survivability and DPS). Let me know what you think.

A Little YDL

Amazing! It’s a post that doesn’t have something to do with WoW…. I’ve had a few.. Yes I have.. Go check! Again this one is about the PS3 though.. I should make a PS3 Category. Do you think I use too many periods? ….. …. …. I like them.. They make me happy.

Ok. Back on topic. (look only 1 period each! …)

So, I took about an hour and installed Yellow Dog Linux on my PS3. It was pretty painless although for some reason it didn’t want to read the otheros.self and otheros.bld files from one of my USB drives (works for everything else though). Tried a different one and it worked like a champ. Stick the YDL DVD into the drive and change the OS to load to “otheros”. Bingo.. Had to dig out a USB mouse though to make things easier. I think I need to get me a powered hub for this sucker, I keep plugging in tons of stuff.

I installed it, but really didn’t get to play with it too much.. Installs without a hitch, no problems, no configuring, great stuff. There is a menu entry to switch back to the PS3 OS on the desktop menu and the interface looks great on my 720p TV. I am going to take some time (maybe tonight) to work on playing videos and music and such, maybe setup mythTV if I can.

I also played around with pulling pictures from my camera’s CF card (I got the 60GB PS3 so it has media card readers). Worked great. I like how it sorts the pictures by date, my only concern is what happens when you have a ton of pictures on there for many many dates.. Might get a little unwieldy I would think. (almost misspelled unwieldy… oh, maybe I did anyway. I suck at speling )

That’s about it for my “off topic” rant of the day.. Ok, no rant.. “Review”

Hunter Delight – Patch 2.1

So far, 2.1 is looking like a good release for Hunters. The information contained herein (oohh fancy language) is from the official patch notes.

I’ll go over my favorites here and you can see the whole list by hitting “more”

A new “Avoidance” ability can now be taught to hunter pets. This effect reduces the damage they take from area of effect spells and abilities.

Looks pretty good, not sure I will get this for my pet.

A new “Cobra Reflexes” ability can now be taught to hunter pets. This effect increases attack speed but reduces damage.

Also interesting but again not sure it belongs on my pet.

“Arcane Shot”: Casting lower ranks of “Arcane Shot” than your maximum rank will now reduce the bonus you receive from attack power.

Ah.. A “nerf” dunno why this is important, but.. OK.

“Go for the Throat” no longer causes additional threat.

I wonder if I was taking advantage of this at all. I have Go for the Throat, I wonder if they meant aggro for the hunter or pet.

“Hunter’s Mark”: This ability now becomes stronger each time the target is struck by a ranged attack.

This is pretty awesome… Maybe.. Unfortunately it is really vague

“Kill Command” has been removed from the global cooldown. The shout animation has been removed.

NOW THIS!!!! This is cool.. I use “Kill Command” quite often and I’m really happy with this change.. Been a while in coming and I’m glad they realized that it needed to be done.

“Scatter Shot”: This ability will now trigger “Kill Command” when it critically strikes.

This is good. I didn’t notice it wasn’t doing it, but good to know it will!

Hunter “Mend Pet”/”Improved Mend” Pet Changes:

Replaced the current “Mend Pet” channel spell with an instant cast heal over time.
No combat reset, resets global cooldown
The mana cost has been reduced and the heal value increased.
Duration on Heal Over Time increased to 15 seconds in 3 second increments.
Changed the graphic to better represent the Heal Over Time effect on the pet.
The “Mend Pet” heal over time buff is now able to be dispelled.
Bonus healing gear will no longer effect “Mend Pet”.
Added a 10% and 20% reduction to the mana cost of “Mend Pet” in “Improved Mend Pet” talent (Beast Mastery).

These changes are some of the best though. Reduced mana cost, increased Heal value? Bufforama… “Mend Pet” channel with instance HOT? Awesomenessessess (how many essess is that?) Otherwise it’s just freaking great..

Warlock and Hunter pets will now be automatically dismissed when you summon a mount. These pets will return on dismount. This does not affect pet happiness for Hunters.

This one has been requested since BC was released (well, at least as soon as the first hunter or warlock got a flying mount). I can’t wait.

I really appreciate the “love” (as people call it) that Blizzard has shown fit to bestow upon us Hunters this release. I’m not sure on timing of this release, but I would assume next week or the week after. Heres *crossing* our fingers.
