Asleep at the WoW

Aggro.. I think I am Aggrophobic.. Last night ran hot/cold. The magic number for the night (TOTAL!) was 15… 15!!!!!  Yeah that is deaths. Some point before next Tuesday, someone remind me to re-spec and move points from IFF to Subtlety.. I’m hoping the extra 2 points makes a difference.

So, um, yeah. Kara. It seemed to start out pretty well. Fyra logged in early and I did a bunch of quests in Netherstorm that I hadn’t done on the way to 70.  Since I am farming up for my Epic Flying Skill, I need all the moola I can wrangle. When 6pm server came around, I was invited into the raid and eventually (after topping off on reagents) caught a port to Kara.

Things went well to begin with.  We “ran” up to the Shade and proceeded to one-shot him.  I didn’t even die! (I might have died a couple of times on the way UP to the shade, but he didn’t kill me) Off we went to Chess. Not too bad either, maybe another couple of deaths on the way there… As I gear up, I seem to pull aggro more and more… I wonder why… Oh, and I think someone first called us BOOMkin because of the sound we make as we hit the floor, dead.

Nothing much in the way of drops (especially for da boomkin). We maneuvered our way out and up to the Prince where we proceeded to get slaughtered.  Over and over and over and over and over and over again.  The only saving grace was that it was so quickly that we never got re-spawns. Eventually we made a small change to the line-up to bring in an extra healer for the tank and used our new Bear tankid to hold the Prince.

After one failed attempt at that (he lost aggro for a sec… NO it wasn’t me), we finally downed him. The “This is my last attempt guys…” strategy worked, again!  It has been a very long time since we wiped that many times on ANY boss in Kara. It was very frustrating because we really weren’t sure what was going wrong.  I think we just forget that this is a difficult fight and need to treat it that way. I did get Adornment of Stolen Souls from him at least..

Of course during all this, Lady Jess and Breana (of GLDC) were lurking on our vent channel laughing at us… (thanks guys!) All in all, I died 12 times on that raid… That just hurt..

We called the Kara run after that and while it was late and I really should have been going to bed, I was told I was going to Heroic Mechanar which was the daily heroic.  After forgetting to pick up the quest before getting on the bird, then logging out and back in to cut the flight short, I made my way to Netherstorm and the instance I know better than the back of my hand.

Mech was pretty easy. I still was having issues with my aggro, but only died 3 more times fighting the good fight. I did pick up the Boots of the Pious though (MORE HEALING STUFF, ARGHHH!). Total for the evening was 15 deaths.. Been a while since I died that much..

Tonight is the first night of the second Kara run.  (That is a mouthful…) Usually Fhuun is called upon to aid in their raiding.  If so, I’ll be in there. If not, I’ll be farming moola on ‘da Drood (and the others). Got any stories about a boss you though you had on “Farm” but had one night that nothing seemed to go right with it?  Let me know in the comments.. Also, I am sorry there was no new poll this week, I’ll work hard to think of something for next week.  The podcast has taken over my life…

Ok.. Weekend done, time to discuss the goings on (of course, here in the US we have today off [Memorial Day]).

On Friday we had our “normal” Gruul’s Lair run with another guild. Things seemed to be going okay at first (I brought in Fhuun for healingness). We wiped the first time on HK, but then got him down the second. We then proceeded to wait for quite a while as “things happened”.

I really wasn’t paying much attention since nothing was going on, but then our RL decided to call the raid. Seems that things were taking too long and disagreements were causing issues. Looks like we will not be having the Friday Gruul’s run for a while now. At least until we can get 25 members of Mythos together to do it.

After the run fell apart, I got a group together to help Fyra and our “new” Bear Tank get our Kara keys. We did quick key runs of SV and Arc and then Old Hillsbrad and Black Morass. I got 5/10 of the Essence of Infinity I need for my Elixir Mastery quest. After that we ran through non-heroic Mechanar for rep and money.. It was a pretty late night.

Saturday was the continuation of the Thursday Kara run to which I brought Fhuun. We cleared out the rest of the place pretty easily and then I proceeded to bring Fyra into a Heroic Slave Pens run. The run went really well. Our new bear tank is ‘da bomb… Lots of rep and a new dagger and mace later we were done for Saturday night. I now am a dagger/book wielding Boomkin.. Outta my way!

I was a little late getting on Sunday night, but I managed to get roped into going to Heroic Arcatraz. Of course, before I could bring Fyra in there, I needed 500 more rep or so to get the key. Soo.. We went into Mech for a little rep farming. We cleared all the way through the first boss and also the mini-bosses to get the cache key. I dinged Honored, got my key and then we headed into Arc.

The arc run was a little crazy. We had lots of problems with the first boss, but I decided to start helping out healing (we had only one healer and heroic arc is crazy hard) and we got through it. The 2/3 bosses weren’t too bad after we figured out the fights and even with some deaths on trash, we did okay. Final boss was cakewalk compared to the rest and we ended with no deaths on that one. For all that effort, I picked up Shiffar’s Nexus-Horn from Harbringer Skyriss and that was it for Sunday.

Tonight, I promised that if we have the people on at 6pm server, I’ll run a Z’A run. I’ve forgotten most of the stuff about that place since we haven’t been there for so long, but I guess I’ll try to make do. I’ll let you know how it went tomorrow.

Welcome back! I hope you have had time to go ahead and vote on the poll this week! I actually didn’t play ALL that much this past weekend. We had company in town and I didn’t get to login on Sat or Sun until very late.

Gruulday

Friday was Gruul’s day. We actually started relatively “on-time”. Most everyone was already at the stone and ready to go in by the time 6pm server rolled around. Kezz was having a little issue though. She had just gotten a new computer and they were still installing WoW on it (patches, etc). This meant we were down our Stamina Mage for Krosh. We tried 24 manning it with a different mage tanking him, but we died both times we tried that. Once we got Kezz in though, the High King went down easy. I think we are really getting the hang of that fight.

For the High King fight, I had brought in Fhuun to help with the healing (since it gets split up so much). I also was in for healing a few rounds with Gruul, but the RL felt we were lacking DPS so Trae switched to Pil (Prot Pally to Disc Priest) and I switched out to Fimlys, whom I had parked right outside. We still didn’t get him down, but we did get him down to 17%!! Our previous best was 33%, so that is progress made. The screenshot I have says 18%, but we did get him all the way down to 17. We tried through one set of trash respawns and then called it a night. I think given a little more dps, we should be able to get it done pretty easily.

Mechday

On Saturday I didn’t get to login until pretty late. A few of my fellow guildies were asked back into TK with the same guild as last week. If I had been on… Ah well.. They were just finishing up wiping on Solarian for the last time and I get the request from Kezz to go run Heroic Mech for some rep. I was on Fyra at the time grinding my way up to 61, so I switched over to Fhuun. “Oh, by the way, you will be the only healer, ok?”… Uh.. Ok.. It IS heroic, right? I’ll do what I can. Fhuun was still sitting inside Gruul’s Lair from the night before (lol), so I hopped on a bird and was at the stone pretty quick. Of course, they were already mostly there since they were just in TK.

I think I did pretty good since we had no “complete” wipes.. I died once on the trash just before the final boss, but I ran back in and everyone else had survived. We had Trae (Pally Tank), Arienna (Kezz’s Hunter), 2 mages and Fhuun healing. We took out the First sub-boss on the left hand side.. Then pulled the first boss back to the stairway on that side. Then we took down the second “sub-boss” and moved up the elevator. We skipped the second boss and barreled through the gauntlet. Final boss is SOOOO easy with a good Pally Tank to keep the adds in check. He went down pretty easy and we rolled up our phat lootz.. I don’t really remember what they were… There was a Primal Nether though!! (oh yeah… )

We moved back in to the Second Boss room and gave her a shot. First time, she picked off our 2 mages pretty quickly and then the Hunter and Paladin went down… Run, Fhuun, Run!!!… I ran to the bridge and it reset as she approached. I rezzed everyone and we gave it a second shot. I was targeted less by the elementals on this one, so I could get some healing off much easier and we got her down. WOW! Did I just heal the entire Heroic by myself? Ooooh.. *Ego Boost*..

Fishday

Sunday was a more relaxed day. I had a little time during the day to play but still didn’t get on at night until after midnight… (ugh). That afternoon I worked on getting Fyra up to level 61 and I am happy to say she made it! Woo hoo! I’m still working on quests in Hellfire Peninsula but getting close to moving on to Zangarmarsh. In addition, my Jubling finally hatched! Woo hoo.. Happy frog!

I also spent a lot of time after that getting Fimlys his Artisan Fishing quest done. I flew out to talk to Nat and since I was only at 221 fishing skill, I had to do some fishing there on his dock until I got to 225. I then picked up the fishing quest and ran around the world getting 4 fish from different areas. Most of the time I got the fish within 5 or 6 casts. The last one in the Swamp of Sorrows, though, took many more than that. I am still really bored by fishing, but I really want to get to the point where I can fish up the fish to make Fishsticks for myself (well, for Fhuun)..

Today

Well, tonight… Monday is an off day for raiding. Unless something comes up, I’m gonna see if I can get a group together to run through Ramparts for Fyra. Maybe we’ll do ramps and then furnace.. They should be nice and quick with a party of 70s and Fyra. I’m still really enjoying the Boomkin spec. It is really fun, although very mana intesive. I still might respec at 70 back to a Bear/Cat Feral build, but we’ll have to see.. We don’t have any Balance druids in the raiding group, so, maybe we need one..
