We Trash a Lot

Posted by Fimlys on 30th June 2008

Another weekend over. Again I need to sit back and remember what happened this weekend. Ah yes.. SSC, Z’A, SL…. A plethora of acronyms!

Friday night was an SSC trash run (Serpent Shrine Cavern). We were pretty sure we had no chance on any of the bosses given that we had a maximum of 18 members of the raid at any one time. However, with only 18 members, we wiped 2 times at the beginning and then successfully cleared all the trash up to the Lurker without incident. WoWScrnShot_062708_235145 We decided to go ahead and give him a try and I think we MIGHT have gotten 1% … off of his health before wiping.. Ah well, I think with 25, we might be able to do a little better.

Saturday was my Zul’Aman run. My head was pounding so I asked our “normal” raid leader if he minded running the thing for me. We went ahead in.. I brought Fhuun into the raid to help with the healing. We wiped once on the 2nd to last set of trash near the bear boss. We missed the timer because of that, but we still got the boss down in one shot.

FhuunZA_062808_234814 We moved on to the eagle boss and dropped him in a few tries and then moved on toward the dragonhawk boss. We tried to go north around the hatchery, but we got constantly smashed by the group over there. We tried the “run through the hatchery” and it was significantly easier than the other way was. We had Traebear our Pally tank to help out with all the birds. :)

We gave a good shot at the dragonhawk boss, but were unable to seal the deal. We gave up after quite a few tries and called it a night.

WoWScrnShot_062908_234445 Sunday I logged in and healed a group that was going for Ahune. We didn’t get what the 2 were looking for in the 5 tries though. Afterwards I got together an Heroic Shadow Labyrinth run since it was the heroic daily and even the non-heroic daily. We waited around for our tank for a while and then invited Jess to bring her Tree Druid and heal the run.

WoWScrnShot_063008_024510 We had to clear the first room in non-heroic so she could get her key, but that was fun too. We reset in Heroic and went to work. We one shot all the bosses except for Murmur. In heroic he is a pain in the tushie! Finally we got him down in the end and finished up the quest (Jess had a lot of SL quests to do also). EDIT: Oooh! I forgot that Fyra got epic pants! The Kirin Tor Master’s Trousers dropped from Murmur and made me very happy! I gemmed them up with 3 heroic gem drops I have been collecting. I am almost up to the spell hit cap now.. I am doing some pretty sick DPS considering I am not even completely geared. :D

That was it for the weekend. I spent time working on Episode 6 of the Twisted Nether Blogcast too. Tonight is Monday and that means Arena night and just hanging out. I’ll detail the goings on tomorrow.!

Lab Coats

Posted by Fimlys on 18th June 2008

Well, Gruul’s was somewhat of a bust. We were pretty short (at least 5 peeps, I think) of people last night and though we went in to give it a try, we lost tanks way too quick too many times to keep going. We were a little short on healers (at least one more would have been good) and VERY short on DPS.  Ah well, if we can get more either healers or dps we would be fine, since all the healers also have dps alts/mains/etc..

The raid leader called it after a few “wipes” (well, “RUN OUT!”s) and we got a group together to go do Heroic Shadow Labyrinth. Fyra needed to kill Murmur for her Na’aru quests. We did extremely well through pretty much the entire instance up until Murmur himself. With the heroic mechanics, you have to all stay inside the ring until the big blast.

Murmur_061808_001336 We had our tank (Traebear: Pally Tank Supreme) even stay in during those so he didn’t have issues getting back in. We wiped a few times while we figured out this strategy though. Finally, although both mages and my moonkin went down, Wickum (Resto Druid) battle rezzed one of them and they finally got him down. I picked up all my quest items (it was the heroic daily also) and we headed out.

I turned in the quests and then had to call it a night as I needed to get up early the next morning. Tonight it is back to Kara night. I’m hoping Fyra can pick up some stuff this time. A new offhand and cloak would be nice. I also am thinking of starting her building up her Alchemy Stone stuff. I just have that first one. The second level one is pretty crazy mats.

Well, that’s it! Talk 2 ewes tomorrow. :D

Boomkin Dekaration

Posted by Fimlys on 22nd May 2008

Before I get started on my normal “thang”, I just want to bring to light a case of the unjust. Please go read TJ’s article about her good friend and guildmate Lamaa. I have my fingers crossed that something will be done! If you can, spread the word…

Back to the grind… Again with the moonkin. Again with the kara. Yeah! Mythos moved back into kara last night to finish it up.  We had killed the Shade already, so we could port up to his room (Yes, Fyra was back and so was the entire crew from the night before). We made our way over to the Chess Event for some nice easy epics. Nothing dropped for Fyra though. Then we moved up to the Prince and one-shot him.  It was probably the easiest prince fight I think I have been a part of for a while.

The Ruby Drape of the Mysticant dropped but I lost the roll to our new mage (yay for him anyway)… We moved on down to Netherspite and guess what?  My hybrid nature got to come out.. I got part of a red beam assigned to me! I stayed in moonkin, but put on my “bear gear”.  I was > 10k armor and 9k or so health in my greens and blues.. LOL..  It was pretty awesome I have to say.  I have taken the red beam with my hunter when necessary, but the Panzerkin was all over that! Once again, no good drops (for anyone actually).

PrinceDown_052108_220206 Next up was Illhoof. We swapped out one of our hunters for his warlock and again, this Illhoof fight was the easiest I can remember. We got him down in 1m 49s!!! It was crazy. And… I got a belt ( Cord of Nature’s Sustenance).  It is a healing belt though. It still had better stats (including spell damage) than the green one I as wearing.

To Nightbane next. Again a pretty good fight. The group did well and we downed him pretty easily. Again not much for anyone (seems like a big PLATE night and mostly Pally plate at that) dropped. Off we went to the last boss we had left, Maiden. AGAIN we downed her exceedingly fast and not much dropped.

Two days and 22 badges later, Kara was history. Not only did we do well, but there was enough time left last night for me to put together a Shadow Labyrinth run. Of course, while we were clearing the way to the second boss my network decided to take a header… So, since it wasn’t coming back anytime soon, I logged in through my cellphone.. Whoa that was painful.  We ended up killing the boss and the third without much hassle although the lag was horrible for me. We got through to Murmur and I got the keyfrag!

SL_052108_234832 Then we took on murmur.  Our priest got hit with the “touch” right away and somehow got “fragged”.. As we all were falling over dead, I got a battle rez off on him before I died. I was hoping he would know not to stand up until the wipe was complete, but he did!!  Ahhh!  But luckily he was out of combat and stayed that way.. (Whew!)  He rezzed us and we killed Murmur without incident the next try.

It was a good night for Fyra all in all.  Hopefully my internetz will behave tonight and I can help out the Thu/Sat Kara run with Fhuun.  I still need to find time to farm for moola for Fyra’s Epic Flying.. Eh, some day! :D  That’s all for now.. I’m working on a project I’m pretty excited about with a fellow blogger.  I can’t say much about it right now other than I am really excited (is that more than pretty excited?).. Keep an eye out! :D

Later.
